SME Recovery Loan Scheme
The Australian Government has recognized that the continued economic impact of the Coronavirus Pandemic has adversely affected Small and Medium Size Businesses (SME). In response to this, they have announced an extension to the SME Recovery Loan Scheme, which came into effect on 1 October 2021 (Scheme Expansion date).
In summary the Scheme is ‘enhancing lenders’ abilities to provide cheaper credit to otherwise viable SMEs for additional funding to get through the Coronavirus crisis, recover and invest for the future.
Eligible Businesses:
Turnover up to $250M;
Received JobKeeper in the March 2021 quarter; or
Were affected by the floods in eligible Local Government areas (LGAs) in March 2021; or
Adversely economically affected by COVID-19 (new criteria as of the Scheme Expansion Date)
Some of the Key Features:
Government guarantee will be 80% of the loan amount
Loans are for up to 10 years
Loans may be used to refinance existing debt, or a broad range of business purposes (excluding residential property)

Application Period
Loans under the Scheme Expansion Date are only made available until 31 December 2021
